When I retired my #1 goal was to make my nutrition, fitness and weight loss a priority! But three years post retirement I clearly wasn’t making progress. I had been walking, swimming and was up and down with my weight loss. I knew that I needed to get functional strength fitness into my routine, but originally thought I would start that after losing some weight.
At the beginning of 2022 an Alloy add popped up on my social media and after a phone conversation with Angela, I realized that I had nothing to lose by signing up! I had some additional motivation with a high adventure trip scheduled to Kauai, Hawaii about five months after I started, including a beach wedding for my daughter!
I start classes three times a week in January. I had an immediate realization of how out of shape I was! Movement and basically getting up and down was a challenge. Slowly, but surely I made improvements with my coordination, capacity and functional abilities have gradually increased!
The real test came the first week of June when I arrived in Kauai!

I aced the Kalalau Trail (called the stair stepper trail) on the Na Pali Coast! I complete a round trip kayaking trip up the Wailua River and strenuous rocky hike up to Secret Falls.. I kept up with my grandkids and performed better than other seniors on this trip. This 71 year old women wouldn’t have made it without Alloy Fitness!
